Personal Safety Measures


  • Be sincere to yourself and stay alert towards possible harm.
  • Do not introduce yourself and your family to strangers unnecessarily.
  • Be alert while dealing with strangers.
  • Try to avoid walking alone at night and keep to well-lit main roads where possible.
  • Try to avoid wearing precious ornaments unnecessarily.
  • It is always worth letting someone know where you are going, the route you expect to take and when you intending to return.
  • Note the contact numbers of nearby police units and contact them immediately if needed.
  • Always carry your identity card or other informative cards that can be used to identify your blood group and diseases you infected with.
  • Stay alert; be aware of what is going on around you.

Safety measures against theft, burglary and robbery


  • Try to avoid walking alone with precious ornaments or large sum of money.
  • Co-ordinate and co-operate with your neighbors in fighting out criminals from society.
  • Be alert while dealing with strangers and before welcoming them to your residential compound.
  • Be alert of strangers in your society.
  • If possible, try to use safety equipments in your home like emergency alarms, CCTV etc.
  • Keep complete update address with picture of people staying in rent in your home.
  • Be alert of trace passers and unidentified people in your society.
  • If possible, keep your home compound well lit.
  • Keep dog for security, in possible.
  • Close doors and windows properly if you are leaving home.
  • Close unused rooms and passages properly.
  • Never give chance to criminals and stay safe and alert all the time.

Safety measures against threat and kidnapping


  • Try to avoid walking in lonely places.
  • Install caller-id in telephone and record incoming calls.
  • Co-ordinate and co-operate with your neighbors in fighting out criminals from society.
  • If you receive any fraudulent calls then keep patience and figure out as much information of the caller as possible. Like: telephone number, vehicle number, recognize caller's voice etc.
  • Try avoiding loneliness of children.
  • Notice the routes used by your children for their school and their friends and keep contact number of their guardians of their friends.
  • Never open your door for strangers before their identification at night.
  • Call police or neighbors for help in your emergency conditions.

Safety measures against pick-pocketing


  • If you are carrying a large sum of money then try to avoid walking alone.
  • Do not use public means of transport in such conditions if possible.
  • Pay attention to your money bag in the crowd and fair.
  • Act normally even when you are carrying large sum of money; never let others suspect of it.
  • Stay alert; be aware of what is going on around you.
